Canadian and Irish ships set to challenge Israel’s illegal blockade with Freedom Waves to Gaza
On Sunday October 30, Canadian Boat to Gaza supporters delivered a special treat for Stephan Harper, as we brought our opposition to the illegal blockade of Gaza home to Canada.
We the Palestinians of the Besieged Gaza Strip, are calling on the world: enough inaction, enough discussion, enough waiting – the illegal closure on the Gaza Strip must end. While attention is focused on the Palestinian bid for statehood in the UN do not forget that the blockade and the suffering continue in Gaza.
David Heap from the CBG steering committee will report on what happened to the Tahrir in Greece last June-July, and about upcoming plans for the Canadian Boat to Gaza.
Update on the political impact of our action, finances and plans
Dear friends and supporters;
In July the Canadian boat Tahrir and vessels from several other countries were forcefully prevented from leaving Greece for Gaza. The purpose of the Freedom Flotilla was to bring attention to and ultimately end Israel's illegal siege of Gaza, and the humanitarian crisis facing its residents.
When the Canadian boat to Gaza, the Tahrir, was boarded by Greek commandos and towed back to port on July 4, the resulting publicity galvanized supporters around the world in their determination to lift the siege of Gaza.
